Activities
outside the Théâtre de l’Opprimé
The Théâtre de l’Opprimé company gives training
sessions outside the Theatre, both in France and abroad. These training
sessions are designed through close collaboration between the Théâtre
de l’Opprimé and the organiser of the project.
Our working methods allow us to attain the following objectives:
- to promote a group dynamic
- to explore various from of non-verbal expression
- to give people a voice
- to confront the participants’ emotional responses to situations
of conflict.
- to enable the participants to talk about conflicts
- to create an interactive Forum Theatre
- to develop an audience’s attitudes through a public Forum
Theatre
Our
made-to-measure training sessions help to raise awareness of high-risk
behaviours and oppression. For example, we work regularly on these subjects:
- Addictions: alcoholism, sex, tobacco, drugs…
- Discrimination: racism, sexism, disability…
- High-risk behaviours: AIDS, suicide, depression…
- Violence: marital, parents/children, sexual…
- Bullying
- Parenting
- Conflicts at work
This list isn’t complete: the team works with themes brought
up by the organisers.
The training programmes usually go as follows:
-
Duration: most programmes involve ten days of group work, followed
by a performance in cases where a Forum Theatre has been created,
and then an evaluation day.
- Size: 10 to 20 participants (if there are more, we split the group).
- Participants: there’s no age limit, and no specific abilities
or theatre experience are required.
- Period: sessions can be given at any time of the year according
to the organiser’s schedule.
- Place: the training takes place where the participants work or live.
Alternatively, it can take place at the Théâtre de l’Opprimé
if necessary.
This
framework can change according to the organizer’s expectations
and constraints.
