"Mardis Midi" becomes "Jeudis Midi" at the Théâtre de l'Opprimé!
These mythical events, "Tuesdays at Noon", born more than 20 years ago on the initiative of the Écrivaines et Écrivains Associés du Théâtre (E.A.T), take on a second wind and are transformed into "Thursdays at Noon" at the Theater of the Oppressed since the 2022-2023 season.
Les Écrivaines et Écrivains Associés du Théâtre (E.A.T) and the Theater of the Oppressed invite you to their press conference on September 18, 2025 at noon to view the presentation of the proposed projects for the 2025-2026 season! (Press conference canceled on September 18, 2025 due to the national strike)
A word from the T.O director
Dearest friends,
The memories of the beginnings of certain adventures can sometimes be counted in decades.
For us, it will be 3 decades since the opening of our theater… with 2 of them seeing the restructuring of our company. But our partnership with EEAT cannot yet be measured in decades. It is celebrated in years.
Just yesterday, we enthusiastically accepted your proposal: to transform the Tuesdays into “EEAT Thursdays”. The Theater of the Oppressed, your new place of welcome, is our common space. Immediately, the sensory memory activates itself, remembering the encounters with you in our other Parisian locations.
These places where you brought texts and readings to life by presenting them to the public and from the collaboration between artists - on the writing, performing, reading and the interpretation… on sounds, lights, and the boundaries of space… some gems of contemporary drama. All of this is recreated within our walls, enriching our fantasies and our imaginations.
So little time has passed, and already we find ourselves in another chapter of our journey. While art remains our primary impulse, today, resistance must take its place with vigor. It will guide our next steps as we demand that public authorities and governing bodies put an end to the Government’s blindness. It is this arrogance with which they destroy one of the most beautiful and important French traditions: culture.
Grants have been reduced or erased, the House of Writers and Literature has closed, and art has transformed into a market of black-tie gowns and branded “place Vendôme” jewelry - outrageous!
We live in dark times, where the artist is a resistance fighter no longer against Nazis, but against those who want to reduce art to ruins, in images akin to monstrosities that, at our very doorstep, destroy people and civilisations. Moving forward, my dear friends, more than ever le No pasaràn has become imperative.
We must continue to write and interpret in order to exist!
Rui Frati and the T.O. team
